Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi on Monday said that the state has been belittled and has lost respect due to involvement of YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy in large-scale corruption.
Addressing a road show during the by-election campaign at Yerraguntla in Kamalapuram mandal in Kadapa district, the PRP chief lashed out at Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and said that he has no moral right to seek votes from the people of the district.
“Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has brought disrepute to the district by making wealth through dubious methods. He is another Hasan Ali, who has made lakhs of crores of rupees and stashed this in Swiss Banks, evading payment of income tax,” Mr Chiranjeevi alleged.
The actor-turned-politician said that the “day is not far off when Mr Jaganmohan Reddy will be arrested for indulging in large-scale corruption. His arrest will be on the lines of former Union Telecom Minister A Raja, who is accused of being involved in defrauding the country of lakhs of crores of rupees in the allotment of 2G spectrum licenses.
The PRP chief, who has already announced that his party will be merged into the ruling Congress soon, condemned Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s statement that the state government will collapse within six months. He said, “I will not allow him to bring down the government and I am ready to save it at any cost.”
He called upon youth to participate actively in the politics and put an end to corrupt politicians. Earlier, the PRP chief offered prayers at a mosque in Kamalapuram.
Mr Chiranjeevi was accompanied by Congress candidate for the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat DL Ravindra Reddy and Minister for Revenue N Raghuveera Reddy.
