Katasani seeks time to reply cause notice on disqualification

Praja Rajyam Party MLA from Banaganapalle, Kurnool district, Katasani Rami Reddy on Monday sought three more days from Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to reply to the show cause notice issued to him, seeking explanation why he should not be disqualified under the Anti-Defection Law  for indulging in anti-party activities.

The PRP had earlier requested the Deputy Speaker to disqualify Mr Rami Reddy under the Anti-Defection Law for moving closely with YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy.  Talking to media persons at Praja Rajyam Legislature Party Office after seeking time from the Deputy Speaker, the PRP MLA stated that he had never quit the Praja Rajyam Party and had been a loyal worker of the party, despite his differences with PRP president K Chiranjeevi. “These differences are on policy matters, and are not reason enough for me to part ways with the PRP,” he said.

Mr Rami Reddy further emphasized, “There is no question of quitting the party at all. Though I had moved closely with YSR Congress Party, I remain a loyal PRP worker. I have distanced myself from Mr Jaganmohan Reddy due to his ‘dictatorial attitude’.

Hailing the merger of the PRP with the Congress, Mr Rami Reddy stated “I had served in the Congress as a loyal worker for more than 25 years.”

“I have never raised any objection against the merging of the PRP with the Congress. I have and will work towards strengthening the party at grassroots level,” he stated.

PRP whip Vanga Geetha accompanied Mr Rami Reddy during his meeting with Mr Nadendla Manohar. She is believed to have briefed the Deputy Speaker about the developments.

According to sources, the PRP will withdraw its complaint against Mr Rami Reddy and no longer seek his disqualification.
