Staunch supporter of Ysr Congress Party and Nellore MP Mekapati Rajamohan Reddy on Wednesday stated that YS Jaganmohan Reddy will observe a 48-hour hunger fast to highlight farmers problems on May 15 in Guntur district, two days after the announcement of Kadapa byelection results.

Talking to media persons at Sagar Society in Jubilee Hills, the MP stated that mr Jaganmohan Reddy will be observing the hunger fast to protest against the indifferent attitude of the state government in redressing the farmers’ problems. Alleging that the state government totally failed to address the farmers’ issues, the MP stated that the government has failed to purchase farm produce at remunerative prices. He also criticized the government for not purchasing farm produce at minimum support price.

Stating that the farmers had been paid Rs 1200 as the Minimum Support Price for a quintal of paddy during former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy rule, Mr Rajamohan Reddy said that the farmers now are forced to sell their produce for Rs 800 due to government’s indifferent attitude. He reiterated that he was following Mr Jaganmohan Reddy after observing his leadership qualities and his resolve to address the problems faced by the people. The Nellore MP expressed confidence that both Mr Jaganmohan Reddy and ms YS Vijayalakshmi will win with a landslide margin in Kadapa Parliamentary and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.
