Kadapa won, Local Bodies next target: Ambati

Kadapa Won, Local Bodies next target,” was the message given by YSR Congress Party leader Ambati Rambabu on Friday after results showed his party putting up a spectacular performance in the by-elections for the Kadapa Lok Sabha and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies.

Thanking the people of Kadapa for reposing their faith in the YSR Congress Party, Mr Rambabu told media persons here that the impressive victory is the first of many more to come. He hoped that the people of the state would continue to trust the YSR Congress Party and cast their votes for it in the upcoming Local Bodies’ elections.

Mr Rambabu further said that the victories belonged to the people of Kadapa and Pulivendula Assembly constituencies, who have chosen to vote for the YSR Congress over the 125-year-old historic Congress party and 30-year-old Telugu Desam Party. “Their candidates have lost even their deposits to the YSR Congress Party,” the former PCC secretary said.

Mr Rambabu pointed out that YSR Congress Party president Jaganmohan Reddy has rewritten electoral history in the state and surpassed the record set by former prime minister PV Narasimha Rao by winning with a margin of 5,43,053 votes.

“Despite the ruling Congress party having deputed over 20 Ministers and Praja Rajyam Party president K Chiranjeevi as a star campaigner, despite it having hatched a conspiracy with main opposition Telugu Desam Party, it has lost before the will of the people of Kadapa, Mr Rambabu said.

He added that the people of the constituency gave a fitting lesson to both the Congress and TDP and taught a good lesson to betrayers of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy.

Owning moral responsibility for embarrassing loss faced by the Congress candidates, the Ministers should submit resignation from their posts immediately, Mr Rambabu demanded.

He also demanded that Kamalapuram MLA Veerasiva Reddy and Congress candidate for Kadapa Lok Sabha seat DL Ravindra Reddy stand by their statement and transfer their properties to Lord Venkateswara in Tirupati. “Mr Jaganmohan Reddy has won with a massive majority, much more than the 2 lakh votes. Now it is time for them to live up to their promises,” Mr Rambabu said.

He further said that the outcome of the by-elections would change the political scenario in the state.
