Accusing suspended Telugu Desam Party MLA Nagam Janardhan Reddy of targeting TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu instead of focusing his energies on the separate Telangana issue, senior party leader P Chandrasekhar Rao on Wednesday advised the former not to destroy the image of party in which he had enjoyed a position of prominence.
Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said that Mr Janardhan Reddy had been trying to malign Mr Chandrababu Naidu ever since his suspension from the TDP for his alleged ‘anti-party activities’.
Referring to Mr Janardhan Reddy’s statement that Mr Naidu is an ‘integrationist’ and is working to protect the interest of Seemandhra leaders, Mr Chandrasekhar Rao said that these comments are an attempt to destroy the TDP’s image.
He questioned why Mr Janardhan Reddy was more interested to target the TDP than working for Telangana. “Why is Mr Janardhan Reddy not pressurizing YSR Congress Party president YS Jaganmohan Reddy to make his stand clear on Telangana? Is there a secret understanding between the two?” Mr Chandrasekhar Rao questioned.
He also advised the suspended leader not to deliberately damage the TDP’s image, especially after having enjoyed prominent posts in the party.
“Mr Naidu has given complete freedom to all leaders and has asked the local leaders to respect the sentiments and aspirations of people of all regions. Mr Janardhan Reddy has changed his style of functioning and is only targeting the TDP rather than agitating for Telangana, after being suspended from the party,” Mr Chandrasekhar Rao alleged.
Another TDP leader G Arvind Kumar asked Telangana Political Joint Action Committee convenor Kodandaram not to remain satisfied being a mouthpiece of Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
“If you want to become a mouthpiece of the TRS chief, do not claim to be working for Telangana,” Mr Arvind Kumar stated.
He further advised Prof Kodandaram to quit as the TP JAC convenor.
Responding to the challenge issued by TRS leader K Taraka Rama Rao of a discussion on the development of Telangana under the rule of various party leaders, Mr Arvind Kumar stated that the TDP was ready for a debate at any place and any time including Siddipet, represented by KCR earlier.
