Minister for Primary Education D Manikya Vara Prasad on Saturday stated that the government will introduce late chief minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s development and welfare schemes as a lesson in the school curriculum.
Talking to media persons on Saturday, the Minister said that these schemes were the brainchild of our late leader and they were very dear to his heart.
He said that Dr Reddy saw to it that these schemes were extended throughout the State and also most successfully implemented without any lacunae.
In the textbooks, the government will introduce all the schemes such as Arogyasri insurance scheme, Pavalavaddi scheme for economic empowerment of women and Abhayahastam pension scheme for women self-help groups as lessons, he pointed out.
The government will also include his life history as a lesson in the school curriculum, the Minister said.
Rajasekhara Reddy had brought out various revolutionary measures in school education in the state like setting up of 6,500 special 'success' schools, introducing CBSE and English medium education in government schools and laid the foundation for introducing 'Grading System' in 10th class board examinations, the Minister recalled.
He said that the Chief Minister K Rosaiah will release a book on life history of Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy in the October second week. Late chief minister’s son Y S Jaganmohan Reddy would also participate in the book releasing function.
