Hyderabad Police Commissioner Ak Khan on Wednesday announced that the Section 144 imposed in the city will be extended to July 14.

The police had earlier imposed Section till July 7, in view of the bandh call given by the Telangana Political Joint Action Committee.

In a notification, Mr Khan said that information has been received by the department that certain groups are trying to create disturbances affecting public peace and order in Hyderabad city.

He said that with a view to maintain public order, peace and tranquillity in Hyderabad City, and keeping in mind the present law and order situation and security scenario, he was prohibiting every kind of assembly of public on the public roads.

Mr Khan also prohibited every kind of procession, dharna, rally or public meetings and prohibit any individual/groups of individuals from making any speech, gesture or displaying pictures, symbols, placards, flags etc, which is likely to create religious animosity or hatred between different communities or individuals or is likely to cause disturbance to the public peace and order within in the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

The police also exempted its officers and personnel, Military personnel and Home Guards on duty, bonafide funeral processions or other persons or groups duly exempted by competent authority, from the orders.
