Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar on Saturday made it clear that he would take a decision on resignation of elected representatives in House after meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar and a legal expert.
The Speaker made this statement when a delegation of legislators from the Telugu Desam Telangana Forum met him under the leadership of Forum convener Errabelli Dayakar Rao at his chamber seeking acceptance of their resignations submitted for the cause of Telangana statehood. Errabelli Dayakar Rao has appealed the Speaker to accept their resignations as early as possible. Later speaking to media at TDP Party office Errabelli Dayakar Rao said that 141 members have submitted their resignations for the cause of separate statehood. Errabelli Dayakar Rao said the forum members have appealed to Speaker to make efforts towards forming T state by accepting their resignations in order to mount pressure on the Centre. He further stated that all the Forum members would meet on Monday to chalk out future course of action plan, and would seek cooperation of all parties for the formation of Telangana state. He said the Forum would extend their total support to all parties including the Congress for achieving separate statehood. MLA Motkupalli Narasimhulu demanded Centre to make its stand clear on statehood issue. He recalled that 141 members have resigned to their elected posts and created constitutional crisis over the issue. He appealed to all resigned leaders to mount pressure on Speaker to accept their resignations and make concrete efforts for Telangana. Fourteen members from the Forum did not turn up for the meeting out of 34.
