Was Ys Rajasekhara Reddy a corrupt Chief Minister? If yes, then the ongoing CBI probe would cause more damage to the Congress party than Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Giving a major political shock to his party men, senior Congress leader and former minister T Jeevan Reddy on Wednesday asked his party men to stop targeting Kadapa MP Jagan Mohan Reddy. Talking to reporters at assembly media point, Jeevan Reddy said that if the YSR Cabinet was clean and non-corruption, then all the cases and allegations of corruption against Jagan would fall flat. But if the Congress government or some leaders are trying to implicate Jagan Mohan Reddy, then it would backfire on the Congress party itself.
The former minister suggested that the Congress leaders must not fall into the trap of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu who has successfully sown the seeds of dissent within the Congress party. "Now the Congress leaders are in a situation that in order to prove Jagan wrong, they will be forced to say that YSR too was corrupt. This will only cause damage to the Congressmen and party," he said.
Jeevan Reddy recalled that it was the same Kiran Kumar Reddy who as the Chief Whip defended allegations of corruption levelled against YSR in the assembly by the Telugu Desam Party. "Then why as the Chief Minister, Kiran Kumar Reddy is not defending those charges levelled by the CBI in the AP High Court by filing a counter petition on behalf of the state government," he asked.
The Congress leader said that any attempt to defame would only defame the Congress party and therefore, the leaders should be highly cautious in what they say and do. The party is already in bad shape in Telangana region due to lack of clarity on the separate statehood issue and it would lose in other parts of the state too.
