Vijayawada, Oct 5 :
The Opposition and Telugu Desam Party leader N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday charged the Congress government with not taking up any relief measures in flood affected districts.
Talking to media persons at Gannavaram airport after conducting an aerial survey of flood hit villages in Krishna district, Naidu stated that the officials are not concerned about the plight of the flood victims other than providing abundant lip service. “They are not showing enough sincerity in taking relief operations in the flood affected districts,” he charged.
He alleged that the Congress government has failed to take up proper repair works to the bunds along the Krishna River. “If the government has strengthened the bunds and embankments, the severity of flood could be mitigated in the Krishna river basin,” he explained. He said that the Central Water Commission has failed to estimate the inflow and outflow of water in the dams properly and failed to warn the floods.
Naidu said that he would mount pressure on government in taking up rescue operations in flood ravaged districts effectively without any delay. The NTR Trust would also conduct health camps to prevent water-borne and contagious diseases in marooned districts and distribute medicines free of cost.
