Danam denies attacking dalit youth

Labour Minister Danam Nagender denied having assaulted the dalit youth at Tukkaramgate in the city and said that he was not aware that the youth belongs to Scheduled Caste.

Talking to reporters here on Monday, Danam said that pelting eggs on his car was planned by the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and when his supporters try to beat up Shravan, he rushed to stop them. He denied media reports that he himself beat up the youth with a cane. He said he was ready for any enquiry into the incident.

Danam accused the TRS of trying to project him as an anti-dalit leader. "The TRS has run out of issues and is now trying to drag me into this controversy. He reminDed that a dalit officer was attacked in AP Bhavan at Delhi by TRS MLA T Harish Rao and that time the TRS party has remained silent. "I have represented Asif Nagar constituency for three terms where a large number of SCs, ST and BCs live. I was also close to these sections and never did anything wrong against the dalits. The TRS is unnecessarily trying to give a caste-colour to the entire episode," he said.
