The Telugu Desam Party MLAs on Monday requested Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar for division of the vote on the No Trust Motion.

In a letter submitted to Assembly speaker, the MLAs asked him for 'division of vote' instead of a 'voice vote'. While the Speaker can carry or reject a motion by just hearing 'Ayes' or 'Noes' from the members under the 'voice vote', under the 'Division', a headcount would be done to see who was in favour or against the motion.

Whatever may be the outcome of voting, the 'Division' might directly affect the MLAs who are supporting the YSR Congress party. If they vote in favour of No Confidence Motion, they would be liable for disqualification under the Anti-Defection Law for violating the party whip. However, if they oppose it, they might be expelled from the YSR Congress party.
