TDP asks State Govt to clarify on CAG report

Telugu Desam Party senior leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu on Thursday demanded that the state government give an explanation on planned expenditure in the budget.

Talking to media persons at NTR Trust Bhavan, Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu said that the Comptroller and Auditor General of India in its report has pointed out several flaws on the financial management and budgetary processes of the State Government. With the State Government imposing restrictions on budgetary allocations, he said the TDP wants to know how much amount the government has spent on welfare schemes and development works.

Gali said that the government should clarify on CAG report, which pointed out that the state suffered huge financial losses running into hundreds of crores of rupees due to various factors like cost over-runs, evasion of taxes, write-offs among others. He alleged that financial rules have been flouted by several departments by drawing funds in excess of requirement, resorting to re-appropriation without proper explanations and expending without provision of funds.

The TDP leader demanded that the government adhere to budgetary procedures and financial rules to ensure that the budgeting process was more transparent and result-oriented.
