Communist Party of India state secretary K Narayana on Tuesday stated that people would lose their faith on the politicians if the parties fail to initiate disciplinary action against the rebels for indulging in the anti-party activities.

Talking to media persons after visiting the party office at Kondapi in Prakasam district, Narayana demanded that the Congress party take action against the MLAs who voted in favour of No Confidence Motion for violating the party whip. “If the party fails to initiate action against the MLAs then it will send a wrong message among the people,” he stated.

“This is first time in the history of State Assembly that Speaker Nadendla Manohar received disqualification petitions against so many MLAs under the Anti Defection Act,” he stated.

When the reporters asked whether the CPI would field its candidates in the by-elections, Narayana said that the party was considering contesting in the by-polls in some segments. However, a final decision would be taken only after discussing the issue with senior leaders.
