Hyderabad, Oct 10 :
Standing firm on the decision not to step down from the chairmanship of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) , Jaswanth Singh, the former Bharitya Janata party leader said. "I am not. This cannot be a decision that the party can take because the determination of the post and the decision is that of the Lok Sabha speaker and not of a political party," Jaswanth told at a meet-the-press programme of the Andhra Pradesh Union of Working Journalists (APUWJ) here on Saturday. I don’t crave for any post, he further added. BJP argues that parliamentary principles require that Jaswant Singh, who has been expelled from the party, has to step down to maintain the dignity of the office.
The party justified its demand on the ground that if the party had not nominated Singh for the position the Speaker would not have appointed Jaswant Singh for the job. Setting aside all the reasons put forth by the BJP, Jaswanth reasserted that he would not quit the Chairmanship of the PAC. Speaking about his future plans Jaswanth said ''I intend to spend the fag end of my life fighting against corruption in all walks of life, work for peace between India and Pakistan and bring the Hindu-Muslim community together to live in peace.
