Twelve members of Telangana Rashtra Samithi were suspended from the State Legislative Assembly on Friday for a day for stalling the proceedings demanding resolution on separate Telangana.
As soon as the House met at 9 am, TRS members rushed to the Speaker's podium raising slogans of 'Jai Telangana'. They insisted that a resolution demanding separate Telangana be introduced in the House. After about three minutes, following pandemonium, Speaker Nadendla Manohar adjourned the House for half-an-hour.
Similar scenes were witnessed when the House re-assembled at 10.35 am. Having failed to convince the TRS members to resume their seats to take up regular business, the Speaker asked Legislative Affairs Minister D Sreedhar Babu to move a resolution to suspend TRS members.
Later, the Speaker announced the suspension of 12 TRS members from the House for a day. Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party and CPI MLAs staged a walk-out in protest.
As announced earlier, the Telugu Desam Party members abstained from the House during the Question Hour.
