Telugu Desam Deputy floor leader Gali Muddu Krishnama Naidu on Wednesday appealed to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar to disqualify Congress MLAs who switched loyalties to YSR Congress Party under the Anti-Defection Law.

Talking to media persons at Assembly media point after a delegation of TDP members submitted a memorandum to the Speaker on the issue, he said that the TDP MLAs have appealed to the Speaker to initiate action against the Jagan group MLAs as the inordinate delay in taking decision would send wrong message. Despite completion of hearing, he asked as to why the Speaker was reluctant to disqualify the MLAs under the Anti Defection Law.  "This will amount to violation of constitution by Speaker,” he pointed out.

Gali also asked the Speaker to explain as to why the merger process of Praja Rajyam got delayed despite the Election Commission issuing a letter. He alleged that the Speaker was delaying the announcement on the merger process as the PRP Chief K Chiranjeevi would have to be sent back from front rows in the House to back seats.

Gali said that the delegation also appealed to the Speaker to take steps for conducting business in the House in a harmonious way instead of adjourning it frequently on flimsy reasons. He appealed to the Speaker to convene evening sessions of House to discuss on important issues.

He said that the delegation asked the Speaker to allot one third of time for the main opposition party during discussion on public issues. He said that the Speaker assured to look into all the issues and act as per the rules and regulations of House.
