Sangareddy, July 9 (TNN): The Praja Rajyam Party on Thursday alleged that large parts of the State may turn into a desert with Karnataka and Maharashtra constructing dams on Krishna and Godavari rivers. Talking to media persons at Sangareddy, Senior leader in Praja Rajyam Mr Devender Goud alleged that Srisailam, Nagarjunasagar, Telugu Ganga and other projects may not receive any inflows with Karnataka constructing 55 bridge-cum-barrages on the Krishna and Godavari rivers.
He demanded the state government to take steps to prevent Maharashtra government constructing a dam on Godavari river in Babli and 11 other barrages.Devender Goud wanted the government to take up the issue with the Krishna water tribunal, the Union and Karnataka governments and save irrigation projects and the State.
He criticised the state government for not allotting a single paisa for national projects—Pranahita-Chevella in the budget. He questioned the government’s move how it can construct a dam without giving it to priority. He said the PRP would have tie-ups with other parties in Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation elections based on winning chances of candidates.
