AP assembly adjourned over 'tainted' ministers' issue

The proceedings of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly were disrupted on Tuesday with the opposition Tdp members demanding immediate dismissal of six ministers who have been served notices by the Supreme Court in the disproportionate assets case of YSR Congress party president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.

As soon as the House met on Tuesday at 9 am, the Tdp, CPI and CPM  MLAs moved adjournment motion separately on the issue and demanded discussion in the assembly. The Tdp members rushed to podium of Speaker Nadendla Manohar while shouting slogans against the government. They demanded that six 'tainted' minister be dismissed from the cabinet.

Legislative Affairs Minister D Sridhar Babu tried to pacify the Tdp members stating that the government was yet to receive a copy of Supreme Court notice and then only it would react on the same. He pointed out that nobody will be left in the House if one were to resign based on mere allegations. He accused the Tdp of wasting the time of the House. However, the Tdp members continued the slogan shouting. Following uproar, the Speaker adjourned the House for 15-minutes.

When House re-assembled at 10.40 am, the Tdp members resumed their slogan shouting. Even the Speaker's assurance that Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy would react on the issue failed to bring the House to order. After about four minutes, the Speaker adjourned the House for 30 minutes while inviting floor leaders of all parties to his chamber for a discussion to break the deadlock.

The House assembled again at 12.30 pm. But with the Tdp members continuing their protest, within three minutes, it was adjourned for the day.
