Congress demands probe into Old City violence

Former minister Dr P Shankar Rao on Monday expressed serious concern over the communal clashes that took place in Madannapet and Saidabad police station limits in the Old City. 

Talking to media persons at the Congress Legislature Party office, Shankar Rao appealed to all parties to make efforts to bring back normalcy and work for communal harmony with religious and community leaders. He said that the government should order a probe into incident and take serious action against the perpetrators of violence.

AICC secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar demanded that the government initiate stern action against those responsible for violence and take steps to ensure that such incidents do not recur. Taking a dig at YSR Congress president Jagan Mohan Reddy, he said that some persons are trying to get political mileage on such incidents by visiting those areas.
