Former MLA and Kapu leader Vangaveeti Radhakrishna on Thursday said that he has made up his mind to join the YSR Congress Party on April 27.
Talking to media persons at a private hotel in the city, Radhakrishna said that he took this decision after consulting his well wishers and family members. Radhakrishna, a first time MLA from Vijayawada East Assembly constituency in 2004, said that his late father Vangaveeti Mohana Ranga has worked relentlessly for the Congress party since 1984. However, despite working hard for strengthening the party, he alleged that the Congress party failed to recognize his services and his family members.
Stating that former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy’s family members were also facing the similar fate in the Congress, he said there was no recognition for genuine workers in the Congress party. He said that the Telugu Desam Party and Congress parties were targeting YS Jagan Mohan Reddy unable to digest his growing popularity among the people.
Radhakrishna said that he would work as loyal worker in the YSR Congress party and try to bring the party to power in the ensuing elections. Responding to a question on contesting the ensuing by-elections, he said that Jagan would take a decision on this issue.
Radhakrishna has been maintaining silence after having contested unsuccessfully on the Praja Rajyam ticket from Vijayawada East Assembly in 2009 elections.
Though he was one of the early birds to join the PRP, Radhakrishna deferred with the party leaders when the PRP merged with the Congress. Since then, he kept the political circles guessing on his future course of action.
