The Telugu Desam Party has decided to put off its annual convention 'Mahanadu' scheduled to be held on May 29, in view of the ongoing by-election campaign in the 12 districts in the State.
The decision was taken during the party's polit-bureau meeting held at NTR Trust Bhavan here on Friday. Briefing the media persons about the decision, party senior leader K Yerran Naidu said that the party leaders have decided to postpone the Mahanadu in view of by-elections campaign. The party would finalise the revised date for convening Mahanadu after the declaration of by-election results, he said.
However, the party has unanimously decided to celebrate party founder N Taraka Rama Rao's birth anniversary in a grand manner on May 29.
Yerran Naidu demanded that the government arrest the Ministers and politicians who are allegedly having nexus with the liquor syndicate instead of confining the investigation to to arrest of Excise and Police officials. He also came down heavily on the state government for allotting lands in the State capital to entrepreneurs violating the rules and regulations.
The TDP leader also slammed the Centre and State governments for their failure to provide Minimum Support Price for the farm produce. The governments failed to provide relief to drought-hit farmers and left them to their fate, he said.
