Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu on Thursday appealed to the Election Commission to impose a ban on those who are repeatedly resigning from their posts and causing by-elections, unnecessarily.
Addressing a road show during by-election campaign in Guntur district, Naidu accused the Telangana Rashtra Samithi and YSR Congress Party of luring MLAs in the name of statehood and money and forcing them to submit resignation from the elected posts and causing the by-elections in their constituencies. He appealed to Election Commission to impose a 10-year ban on those who resign from the elected posts without completing even two years' tenure after getting elected.
Naidu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy has lured the MLAs using money power and offered Rs 10 crore to each MLA, who submitted resignation from his elected post. He alleged that former Prathipadu MLA Sucharitha took Rs 10 crore from Jagan to submit resignation from her post and contest afresh in the by-elections. With the MLAs falling prey to money, he said that the service attitude among leaders was on a decline and the political values were losing their importance day-by-day.
The TDP chief said that industrialists, IAS officers and ministers were languishing in the jails due to greediness and hunger for power of YSR family members. Stating that Jagan’s main intention was to come to power at any cost, he asked Vijayamma as to why she did not objected to Jagan's misdeeds. He called upon the voters to eliminate corrupt people from the society.
Naidu said that the State would witness 'jungle raj' if the people voted in favour of Congress and YSR Congress in the by-elections. He asked the people to reject the Congress and the YSR Congress in the by-elections and intensify their fight against corruption.
