YSR Congress Party honorary president YS Vijayalakshmi demanded that the government continue Fee Reimbursement scheme without any changes.
Addressing a massive gathering at Eluru organised to protest against the proposed chances in the Fee Reimbursement scheme on Monday, Vijayalakshmi said that parents of the students were suspecting trouble due to delay in engineering counseling and they were are in a dilemma. Former chief minister YS Rajshekhar Reddy launched the Fee Reimbursement scheme to ensure that poor students too realise the dream of pursuing higher education. But the present Congress Government has shattered the dreams of lakhs of students in the State, she said.
Vijayalakshmi pointed out that Chief Minister Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to continue YSR's schemes after taking charge of his post. But now it appears that the government is trying to scrap the scheme, she lamented. She assured the parents that YSR Congress party would not allow injustice to them.
Claiming that welfare and development have been the two eyes of her husband and former chief minister Rajasekhara Reddy, she said that the present leadership was incapable of getting funds or sanctions for the welfare schemes from the centre. Party leaders, MLAs, and activists including the presents participated in the protest held at a large scale.
Former TDP leaders K Nani and S Krishna Ranga Rao, who have recently joined the YSRC Party, also took part in the protest.
