The Telugu Desam Party on Thursday alleged that former YS Rajasekhara Reddy did injustice to the Krishna Delta region during his tenure as the Chief Minister.

Talking to reporters here Mylavaram MLA and Krishna District TDP president Devineni Uma Maheswara Rao said that the Congress government increased the number of gates of Poti Reddipadu head regulator from 4 to 10 to the in 2006. As a result, he said that water for irrigation could not be released to 13 lakh acres in Krishna Delta and 22 lakh acres under the Nagarjunasagar Ayacut. He said that the TDP had raised the issue in February 2006 itself complaining of injustice done to the Krishna delta.

Uma Maheshwara Rao said that the Congress Government has cheated the Krishna Delta farmers again.  Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy has promised to release 15 TMC of water to the Krishna delta, but so far released only 3.5 TMC. This resulted in drying up of seedbeds in the entire region, he alleged.

The TDP leader demanded that the State Government own responsibility for the damages and pay compensation to the affected farmers.
