AICC Secretary and MLC Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy on Thursday admitted that serious differences have cropped up between the party MPs from Telangana region and Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy.
Talking to reporters at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sudhakar Reddy said that the arrests of Congress MPs at the Chief Minister's Camp office at Begumpet during Telangana March on September 30 have widened the differences between the leaders. Describing the incident as unfortunate, he hoped that the differences would be resolved soon. He advised the Telangana MPs and also other leaders to avoid speaking about this subject in public forums.
Sudhakar Reddy said that the efforts would be made at the party-level to clear the misunderstandings between the Chief Minister and MPs. However, he claimed that the rift was not so wide as being projected by the media. He said differences among leaders of a political party were quite common and natural. However, he said the incidents that occurred on September 30 have only aggravated the situation. He expressed confidence that the MPs and Chief Minister would soon sit together to bury their difference and work together to strengthen the party and government in the State.
Regarding Foreign Direct Investments policy, the AICC Secretary requested Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh to issue more clarifications so as to counter the propaganda being carried out by the opposition parties. Claiming that the FDI policy would strengthen the Indian economy, he said that the Congress leaders should effectively counter the anti-campaign of the opposition parties.
Sudhakar Reddy also demanded that Gujarat Chief Minister Narender Modi apologise to Congress president Sonia Gandhi for leveling baseless allegations with regard to the expenses incurred on her treatment in foreign countries.
