Pradesh Congress Committee president Botsa Satyanarayana on Monday claimed that the party's State-level convention was a grand success and it has rejuvenated the entire cadre enabling them to prepare for the 2014 elections.
Addressing a press conference at Gandhi Bhavan here, Botsa said that the party discussed several key issues during the convention and the leaders got an opportunity to express their feelings about the issues concerning the party and government. He said all leaders, including mandal-level presidents of Congress party, who took part in the convention, returned with a new commitment that they would bring the party to power again in 2014 elections.
While thanking all the leaders for their support for the convention, the PCC chief admitted that some disruptions were caused by the activists from Telangana region. However, he said Congress being a vast party, such reactions were routine. However, he said steps would be taken to ensure that party meeting were conducted in a smooth manner in future.
Botsa also denied some reports that appeared in a section of media alleging that he insulted the martyrs of Telangana. He said that he neither insulted the Telangana martyrs nor had any intentions to do so. He accused some media organisations of misrepresenting the facts.
The PCC chief did not give any reply when asked about the allegations by some Congress leaders that Union Tourism Minister K Chiranjeevi was not given prominence during the party's convention. Regarding Union Health Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad's comments that Arogyasri was getting 100 per cent subsidy from the Centre, although he was getting more details about the same, but it could be described as a Central scheme.
