The Padayatra of TDP leader N Chandrababu Naidu seems to lay more focus on creating records than to know the people’s problems and it is taking the course of theatrics, YSR Congress has said.

“Unlike YSR, who undertook Padayatra to know firsthand the people’s plight, Chandrababu Naidu has been trekking only to create records without showing any concern towards the problems people are facing,’ the Party MLA Sreekanth Reddy told reporters here on Friday.

As the Padayatra of Naidu is scripted and  choreographed by film personalities it has all the theatrics of celebrating every minor issue like the crossing the 100-km mark, 20 days of hitting the road and that sort without bothering about the issues on ground zero, he said.

“Naidu’s yatra is designed only to create new records but the spirit of the mass contact programme has lost its way as the programme is being used only to defame YSR family members,” he said.

He has been a bundle of lies and his promises have no sincerity as the farmers issue or the pensions or any other promise he has been making were never thought of while he was chief minister for nine years, he said.

The sanctity of Padayatra has been taking a severe beating with Naidu resorting to cheap gimmicks instead of assuring the people of a welfare state as done by YSR, he said.

YSR undertook Padayatra in scorching sun and was with the people always.  Chandrababu Naidu has been blowing his own trumpet for erasing the record of YSR Padayatra milestone but it has no validity as his agenda is not people’s welfare.

Imitation can never be the original work; he said adding that people are not in a position to believe his promises as they have very scary memories of his nine year rule.

Naidu’s remarks on people of Pulivendula are derogatory and such talk will not go well in a democratic set-up. “YSR has always tried to end faction culture in Rayalaseema,” he said.

On Sharmila’s padyatra, he said it will resume soon. It was unfortunate that she had a knee injury which needed surgery and some rest.

On cooperative elections, he said, there are lot of irregularities in voter enrolment and the party will submit a memorandum to the Governor very soon.
