YSRCP asks TDP to move no trust motion

In wake of Congress expelling nine MLAs, YSRCP has demanded the main opposition TDP to move a motion asking the Government to prove its majority failing which Chandrababu Naidu has to openly say that he is offering full support to the N Kiran Kumar Reddy government.

“The government does not have the figures for a simple majority and TDP, which has been vociferous about the failures of State Government, should move a no trust move or else if it has an understanding with the ruling party should be categorical about it,” party leader Dr MV Mysoora Reddy told reporters here on Saturday.

TDP should make itself clear if it wants to fight the people’s cause or it wants to help Congress government to continue till 2014 elections, he said.

While some Congress leaders are of the opinion that they fell into a minority, some others are confident that their government will not fall.

“As Chandrababu Naidu has been time and again telling people that this government has no right to continue for a single day, here comes a situation where nine MLAs are suspended from Congress and the government has drifted into a minority.

As TDP has the numbers to move a no confidence motion and being the principal opposition party, it is its bounded duty to ask the government to test its strength on the floor of the house. If TDP has any political compulsions or an agreement with Congress that it will not topple the government till 2014, it is free to announce its stand,” he said.

The show of strength becomes necessary with the magic figure of 148 for a simple majority is eluding Congress if nine of its 155 members are suspended.

We cannot move the no-confidence motion on our own as we do not have required number of 30 MLAs and TDP leaders urging the Governor to settle the issue is sheer escapism. No Trust motion is a tool which the opposition party has with it to question the Government on public issues and it can be moved at any time whenever the numbers deplete or in case of other emergencies, he said.

We only demand the TDP to move no trust move and we will also move a similar motion asking the Government to prove its majority or the Opposition should openly say that it has an agreement with the ruling party that it will not topple the government till the general elections, he said.
