The Congress Legislature Party on Monday cautioned the Congress MPs from joining the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Addressing separate press conferences Government Chief Whip Gandra Venkataramana Reddy, AICC Secretary Ponguleti Sudhakar Reddy and Government Whip Toorpu Jayaprakash Reddy alias Jagga Reddy advised the Congress MPs not to fall into the trap laid by TRS president K Chandrasekhar Rao.
Venkataramana Reddy said that the Congress party was always serious about resolving the Telangana issue and took several steps including constitution of Srikrishna Commission. He alleged that KCR was trying to cheat the people of Telangana by luring Congress MPs. He said that the Congress MPs should not chase the mirage being shown by KCR.
The AICC Secretary alleged that KCR has been cheating the people of the region in the name of statehood for the last several years. He said KCR had an alliance with the Congress party in 2004 and joined hands with the TDP in 2009 elections. This time KCR is trying to forge an alliance with the National Democratic Alliance, he said.
Ponguleti said that KCR himself announced several deadlines for the formation of Telangana State and went back on them. He said that only Congress party could give Telangana and it would honour its promise.
Jagga Reddy too slammed KCR for trying to lure Congress MPs. He also condemned former PCC chief K Keshava Rao for showing inclination towards TRS. He said Keshava Rao started speaking about Telangana after he was denied re-nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat. He alleged that Keshava Rao did not speak about statehood issue when he was PCC chief and Rajya Sabha MP.
Jagga Reddy said that the TRS has no candidates for the next elections and that was the reason why KCR was luring Congress MPs.
