PVR defends Sabitha, Dharmana

Senior Congress leader P Venkat Rao on Saturday strongly defended former ministers Dharmana Prasad Rao and Sabitha Indira Reddy.

Talking to reporters here, Venkat Rao said that the Congress party would not relinquish Dharmana and Sabitha. He slammed the Central Bureau of Investigation for its remarks in the court that the former ministers would influence the witnesses in the Jagan Mohan Reddy's Disproportionate Assets case. Accusing the CBI of speaking about unrelated issues, he said that while the CBI could arrest them, it should restrain from making strong remarks against the former ministers.

With the CBI filing a memo in the special court seeking the arrest of Dharmana Prasada Rao and Sabitha Indira Reddy, several Congress leaders have come out in open in their support. They also want the government to extend legal assistance to the former ministers, including Mopidevi Venkata Ramana, who was arrested by the CBI in the same case.
