State Minister S Sailajanath on Friday asked Nandamuri Harikrishna to resign from the Tdp if he was really sincere towards keeping the State united.
Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office here, Sailajanath said that Harikrishna's resignation from the Rajya Sabha membership was not sufficient to prove his commitment towards Samaikhyandhra. He said Harikrishna should quit the Tdp to join the united AP movement.
Sailajanath also demanded that the Tdp and YSR Congress Party should pass fresh resolutions opposing the division of Andhra Pradesh and send it Union Home Ministry. Further, both the parties should defeat the Telangana Bill in the State Assembly. He said that the decision to bifurcate Andhra Pradesh was taken by Congress Working Committee and not by the Centre. Therefore, he said that the Congress MPs and legislators were trying to reverse the decision in order to prevent the Centre from dividing the State.
Condemning the suspension of 12 Seemandhra MPs from the Lok Sabha on Friday, Sailajanath said that the MPs have kept the Telugu pride high by raising their voices in the Parliament.
Government Whip in the Council Rudraraju Padmaraju was also present.
