Warangal, July 11 (TNN): After conducting post-mortem on Kiran, a software engineer from Andhra Pradesh, who was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Johannesburg in a suspected racist attack, the body was brought to Hyderabad here on Saturday.
On last Tuesday in Johannesburg, South Africa, the assailants attacked B Kiran, a native of Arepalli village near Warangal who was on his way from work, and fled away with his laptop.
Four bullets hit Kiran, two in stomach and two in thigh. He was admitted to a government hospital at Park Town in Johannesburg where his condition deteriorated. The state government announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the bereaved family. Warangal District Collector N Sridhar and Superintendent of Police are making arrangements to bring his body to Arepalli. His body will be cremated on Saturday evening with full state honours.
Kiran's killing is the latest in a series of attacks involving students and professionals from Andhra Pradesh on foreign shores. Two students, Shravan Kumar from Khammam district and Mir Kazim Ali Khan from Hyderabad, were attacked in Australia in May and June respectively this year.
