The Bharatiya Janata Party on Saturday demanded that the Central and State Government increase security to the Tirumala temple on war footing.

In a memorandum submitted to Governor ESL Narasimhan, former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreyya, floor leader E Lakshminarayana and others, said that the Tirumala temple is one of the most prominent and sacred place for the entire Hindus in the world. The Central Security Agencies cautioned that there is a continuous threat from ISI and other terrorists to the Tirumala temple, they said.

The BJP leaders made a mention about Saturday's incident wherein a terrorist group took shelter in a house at Puttoor town, near to Tirupati and exchanged fire with the police and one police officer succumbed to gun bullets and several others were injured.

"There is information from media that the above terrorists were planning to attack during Brahmosthavams at Tirumala," the BJP leaders said. Therefore, they said that the security to the Tirumala temple should be increased by deploying NSG and CISF personnel on war footing.
