Khammam, Dec 2: Human Rights Commission Chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy on Wednesday directed the Department of Jails to shift Telangana Rastra Samithi chief K.Chandrashekar Rao, lodged in Khammam jail, to the high-security Charlapalli jail or Chanchal Guda Jail in Hyderabad. The HR Commission Chairman's order comes in the wake of a report from Khammam district collector Ms Usha Rani that Rao was not accepting any food or medicines. Usha Rani visited the hospital on Tuesday evening and urged Rao to accept medicines and allow the hospital staff to perform their duty.
This apart, several TRS leaders complained to the Human Rights chairman about the ``attitude of the police in Khammam''.The indefinite fast launched by Rao in support of his demand for separate Telangana state was also interrupted by the doctors at the Khammam Government Hospital in the small hours of Wednesday. While Rao's health condition was deteriorating, the doctors forcibly put him on saline. The Collector also tried to convince him to allow administration of saline but Rao turned down her appeal. Finally, as Rao was diagnosed with an attack of fever, the doctors put him on saline.
Rao's health is constantly being monitored by a team of seven doctors. His family members also visited him in the day.TRS ideologue Prof Jaya Shankar came down heavily on the attitude of doctors and the police personnel. He alleged the police were brutal towards him and MLAs Hareesh Rao, Rama Rao and N Narshimha Rao were beaten up by them at the hospital.“The administration deceived us and put a saline onto Mr. Rao,” he said, adding the Telangana statehood agitation would continue until the demand was conceded. The agitation will be intensified by TRS activists and students in a peaceful way, he said and appealed to all activists not to act violently.
