Cong 'seriously' considering T-statehood issue: Rosaiah

New Delhi, Dec 2 : The Congress Party is 'seriously' considering the separate statehood issue in the wake of the agitation launched by Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K Chandrasekhara Rao, stated Chief Minister K Rosaiah on Wednesday. The Chief Minister told newsmen that TRS president K Chandrasekhara Rao was arrested as a preventive measure to tackle the law and order situation in the State. He said Congress president Sonia Gandhi would take a decision on the troubled Telangana issue at an appropriate time. The Congress Party was facing difficulty in prevailing upon the coalition partners in the United Progressive Alliance Government on the Telangana issue, he pointed out.He made it clear the coalition partners should also support the Telangana statehood issue.

The Andhra Pradesh Government had to arrest KChandrasekhar Rao as the situation was ''going out of control''. “We would not have arrested him, had he walked the Gandhian path,’’ he said.He stated that Chandrasekhara Rao’s life was as valuable as that of any other citizen and the Government is empowered to prevent any citizen from attempting suicides.Constitution of separate State is not a simple issue and it will take some time as delays are inevitable due to procedural wrangles, Rosaiah added.
