The Andhra Pradesh High Court on Friday posted the bail petition of Telugu Desam MLA from Kovvur T V Ramarao, who was accused in a case of rape and murder and sexual harassment of students in his Nursing College at Nidadavole, to August 3.
After the West Godavari District II Munsif Magistrate court in Eluru remanded him to judicial custody till August 3, the Tdp MLA developed chest pain.
He was first taken to the Vijayada Government Hospital and later to the Guntur Government General Hospital, even as his family members insisted that he be shifted to a corporate hospital in Hyderabad for special care.
The Tdp leader was arrested on a complaint by five female students of the TVR College of Nursing in Nidadavolu before Home Minister P Sabita Reddy that Mr Rao, had allegedly tried to ‘sexually assault’ two of them.
The girls returning with their parents also complained to the State Human Rights Commission (SHRC) and Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy and Governor N D Tiwari about their woes. A case had been registered a case against the legislator for alleged rape and murder of a student on June 18.
The girl students from Kerala had recorded their statements before CID, to which the case was transferred by the State Government, after initial probe by the Nidadavolu police could not achieve a breakthrough in the case.
