Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao called on Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi on Thursday and sought Central funds for modernisation of Telangana police force.
The Chief Minister was accompanied with Chief Secretary Dr Rajiv Sharma and DGP Anurag Sharma. While discussing the law and order and security scenario in Hyderabad, KCR urged the Centre to provide financial assistance for Mega City Policing System. He also requested Rajnath Singh to ensure that Telangana gets its due share as per the Andhra Pradesh Reorganisation Act, 2014.
Earlier, KCR, along with TRS MPs, met Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar and requested him to allocated defense land for the establishment of State's new Secretariat in lieu of alternate land elsewhere. Speaking to media persons later, TRS MPs Jithender Reddy and B Vinod Kumar said that the land of Gymkhana Grounds or Bison Polo Grounds has been sought for the State's new Secretariat. They claimed that the Union Minister has agreed to consider the demand and assured to visit the location after holding consultations with the senior officials.
KCR also requested the Defence Minister to set up two Sainik Schools in the State. He also sought clearance from Defence authorities for widening of National Highways in Medak and Karimnagar. He also sought permission to lay water pipelines in Secunderabad Cantonment areas to supply Godavari waters.
