Tummala's statistics on farmers' suicides are wrong: Shabbir Ali

Leader of Opposition in Legislative Council Mohammed Ali Shabbir has strongly criticised Roads & Buildings Minister Tummala Nageshwara Rao for misleading the people with wrong statistics on farmers’ suicides.

Addressing a press conference at the Congress Legislature Party office on Monday, Shabbir Ali contended Tummala's claim that AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi met the families of farmers who committed suicide during the Congress regime. He produced copies of FIRs relating to suicide by four farmers to prove his claim. Satham Gangadhar committed suicide on July 19, 2014, Pasupula Laxman on October 13, Soodi Laxmanna on November 16 and Bondla Linganna on November 29.

"If the FIRs are fake, then the concerned police officials should be sacked. But if the FIRs are correct, then Tummala should resign immediately," said Shabbir Ali. He also expressed wonder on the ignorance of TRS ministers on the issue of farmers' suicides. All ministers including Tummala, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Azmeera Chandulal and even Deputy CM Kadiyam Srihari are giving different figures on number of farmers' suicides in the State. They are all betrayers of Telangana, who came to power by dubious means. They have no sympathy or concern for the kin of those farmers who committed suicide," he said.

Shabbir Ali said that the TRS ministers, legislators and MPs, who genuinely participated in the Telangana movement, are maintaining questionable silence on the issue. However, the betrayers and superficial leaders are making a hue and cry over Rahul Gandhi's visit. He appealed to the real TRS leaders to speak out the truth. He also called upon different JACs and NGOs, who participated in the statehood movement, to take to streets against the anti-people policies of TRS Government.
