AP Govt to celebrate Independence Day at Vizag

Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao has fixed the task to Visakhapatnam District Collector Yuvaraj to coordinate with General Administration Department to make all the arrangements for the flag hoisting celebrations at Visakhapatnam.

The Chief Secretary convened a coordination meeting today with the senior officers in connection with the Independence Day Celebrations. 

Krishna Rao informed that a decision was taken by the State Government to celebrate the occasion at Visakhapatnam for this year and issued instructions to the District Collector to make the arrangements for the celebrations at R.K. Beach.

Inspector General of Police, A.P. Spl. Police Battalions R.K.Meena is Nodal Officer to supervise the arrangements, Dy. Commissioner of Police C.M. Thirvikrama Varma is Liaison Officer for the Ceremonial Parade.

Information and Public Relations Department (I&PR) Commissioner N.V. Ramana Reddy has briefed about the tasks fixed to various Departments – Roads and Buildings Department to arrange raisers as per the specifications given for placing the Cameras for live telecast of the event and to arrange temporary illumination for the prominent important historical buildings at Visakhapatnam. I&PR Department has to arrange Public Address System and Commentators for the programme, Home Department to prepare route map, to fix alighting points, car parking, traffic arrangements for the procession for the celebrations.

The Chief Secretary issued instructions that the APSRTC has to arrange Buses to transport the students as per the requirement and indent placed by the Director of School Education to coordinate the arrangements and directed the Health and Medical Department to ensure fully equipped ambulance with Medical Officer and Nursing assistants on all the rehearsal days and on the event day.

Krishna Rao has also directed the HoDs of all the Departments those who are participating in tableaus - to prepare an impressive tableaus and projecting the schemes being implemented by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. On top priority works should be taken up related to Independence Day Celebrations, Chief Secretary added.

APSRTC Managing Director Sambasiva Rao, GAD Secretay M.K. Meena, Inspector General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta and others attended the meeting.
