The Congress party has named Sircilla Rajaiah as its candidate for the by-elections for Warangal Lok Sabha seat.
AICC General Secretary Janardhan Dwivedi has announced Rajaiah's candidature in New Delhi on Saturday. The Congress had shortlisted three names for the by-elections being held on November 21. They included former MPs Rajaiah, G. Vivek and former union Sarve Satyanarayana. After holding discussions with the leaders of Warangal district, AICC General Secretary Digvijay Singh had recommended the name of Rajaiah which was official announced today.
Rajaiah had won the elections from Warangal Lok Sabha seat in 2009 elections. However, he lost to Kadiyam Srihari of TRS in 2014 elections with a huge margin of 3.96 lakh votes.
Thanking the Congress High Command for giving him the ticket, Rajaiah expressed confidence of winning the by-polls. He claimed that there was anti-incumbency wave against the TRS Government and people would vote in favour of Congress party to express their protest against the anti-people policies of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He said all sections of the society were supporting his candidature.
