Sex scam: Raj Bhavan in damage control mode

Hyderabad, Dec 25: Raj Bhavan officials began the damage control exercise caused by a local television channel airing a sex-tape depicting a person who looked like Governor ND Tiwari indulging in carnal pleasure with young women. The official residence of the First Citizen of the state released a statement rejecting the television channel’s report which claimed that the Governor was involved in the sexcapade, by terming the ‘so-called sex tapes’ as a ‘pack of lies’.According to the grapevine, the Raj Bhavan is also considering filing of a defamation case against the television channel for the tapes.

The television channel was stopped by an injunction from a division bench of the High Court prohibiting the broadcast of such tapes, but by the time the stay order reached the channel’s office, the story had been on air for more than an hour. The court order came in response to a public interest litigation plea by Counsel for the Governor moved before the High Court.The Chief Justice after going through the petition filed by the Governor’s Counsel issued an interim order restraining the TV channel from telecasting anything which will denigrate the the dignity of the Governor.

The Commissioner of Police was also directed to enforce the order forthwith.Meanwhile, security arrangements in and around Raj Bhavan was tightened with armed police and Rapid Action Force personnel on Friday. A number of social organisations like the Jana Chaitanya Vedika, BC Welfare Association, women rights protection associations and even political parties demanded that the Governor should be sacked and necessary action initiated to punish him for bringing the Governor’s post to disgrace. Some women’s organisations even took out a rally and burnt the effigy of the Governor.
