Hyderabad, Dec 30: Normal life was affected across Telangana Region on Wednesday as the day-long shutdown called by all-party Joint Action Committee, demanding statehood, went off peacefully.The public transportation came to standstill with the Andhra Pradesh State Transport Corporation (APSRTC) suspending its City and suburban services. Shops, business establishments, petrol bunks, cinema theatres, and educational institutions remained closed.The Corporation also suspended long-distance services to major cities like Vijayawada, Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Tirupati in Andhra and Rayalaseema regions.
In the Telangana Region, the roads wore a deserted look with auto-rickshaws also joining the bandh.Government employees, lawyers, and staff of educational institutes also kept way from their duties in support of the bandh. However, a couple of stray incidents was reported on the city outskirts.The agitators attacked Mount Opera Resort damaging the security office. The police stationed at Mount Opera brought the situation under control. The irate mob then proceeded to Ramoji Film City and set fire to a car which was parked at the entrance of Ramoji Film City.
