Telangana Bjp President Dr. K. Lakshman on Thursday claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led BJP Government at the Centre wants economic empowerment of Muslims across the country.

Addressing the Eid Milap function at State BJP headquarters here, Lakshman said that almost 40-50% of beneficiaries of Mudra Bank scheme were Muslims. Similarly, he said while only 36,096 Muslims benefitted from the Central schemes under 10-year UPA Rule, the NDA Government schemes benefitted 68,675 Muslims during the last two years.

Lakshman said that Congress and other parties were not serious towards empowerment of Muslim community. Citing an instance he said, except BJP, no other party nominated Muslims in recently held Rajya Sabha elections. He said senior journalist M.J. Akbar and BJP senior leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi were elected to Rajya Sabha on BJP ticket. Now both are serving as Union Ministers.

Speaking about ISIS, the BJP leader said that terrorism has no religion and IS terrorists were killing thousands of Muslims in Arab countries. He asked parents to educate their children about the real teachings of Islam which would keep them away from any terrorist activity. He said that Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao was trying to please the Muslim community with attractive slogans, but not taking serious measures for their upliftment. He asked the Muslims to differentiate between their real friends and enemies.

BJP senior MLA G. Kishan Reddy said that the BJP was against the MIM, not Muslims. Describing MIM as a communal party, he accused it of supporting terrorist activities in the city. He said that the BJP would work towards making Hyderabad free from MIM.

BJP MLA NVSS Prabhakar, State Minority Morcha chairman Syed Haneef Ali, Minority Morcha National Vice-President HS Laiq Ali, HAS India chairman Moulana Tariq Quadri, HUJ Vice-President Taher Rumani were among those who participated in the event.
