Govt not willing to address farmers’ issues: Kodandaram

Telangana Political Joint Action Committee chairman Prof. M. Kodandaram on Monday said that the State Government was not willing to listen to the problem faced by the farmers.

Speaking to media persons here, Prof. Kodandaram came down heavily on the state government saying that it was least bothered about solving the issues of the farmers while taking up various irrigation projects. The government should listen to all the stakeholders and address their issues. Taking farmers land forcefully does not augur well for a government, he said.

The JAC chief also found fault with Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao saying that the government was wasting public money by constructing new residence for the CM. He said that the existing CM house was constructed only recently but KCR did not choose to shift in that. Instead of construction a new camp office, the government could have made some changes in the existing building so as to not waste public money. He also said that that instead of shifting CM house to any existing government building the government construct a new CM house showing scant regard to the poor and the farmers who are suffering due to government’s indifferent attitude. He said that if the government could construct such a swanky CM house within a year, then it should also take up double bedroom schemes for the poor in the same pace. He alleged that the government was being indifferent towards poor and the farmers.

Prof Kodandaram paid tributes to former Cuba President Fidel Castro saying that the Cuba leader stood by India in 70s when India faced resistance from the western forces. He said that Castro fought for equality and worked for the welfare of masses.
