Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President N. Uttam Kumar Reddy has warned the TRS Government against rising frustration and anger among students and unemployed youth of the State.

Addressing a massive dharna organised by the Telangana Youth Congress at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park on Friday, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the State Government has been neglecting repeated appeals by over 14 lakh students and their parents seeking clearance of their Fee Reimbursement dues. He said Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has apparently decided not to react to the problems being faced by lakhs of students, their families and also to the sufferings of nearly 2.5 lakh employees of private colleges who are on the verge of closure. "TRS Government has become so non-responsive and insensitive that it is not even trying to understand the pain of nearly 20 lakh families in the State. This is highly intolerable. Congress party will become their voice and its cadre would not rest until State Government clears Fee Reimbursement dues," he said.

Uttam Kumar Reddy pointed out that the State Government owes nearly Rs. 3,000 crore towards Fee Reimbursement dues pertaining to academic years 2014-15 and 2015-16. Lakhs of students, who completed their studies, were being denied certificates by their respective colleges which consequently affected their placement. The negligent attitude of TRS Government has forced lakhs of students to drop their plans to go for higher studies. Due to non-clearance of old dues, students are neither able to get admission in higher course nor they are able to apply for a job. "KCR cheated everyone with the promise of KG to PG free education. Now he is not even willing to secure the careers of over 14 lakh students by clearing their Fee Reimbursement dues," he said.

The TPCC chief also slammed the Chief Minister for not fulfilling the promise of providing jobs to unemployed youth. He said that the TRS had promised to provide one lakh jobs. Stating that not even 10% of promised vacancies were filled, he said despite conduct of exams by the Public Service Commission and Police Recruitment Board, the unemployed youth are waiting for final appointments. He said that the unemployment was on the rise during the two-and-a-half rule of TRS. While the State Government was moving on snails’ pace in filling vacancies in government departments, jobs in private sector have completely eroded. Raising serious doubts over the figures pertaining to TSiPass, he said that the new industrial sector has failed to create any new jobs. Further, wrong policies of State Government and the recent denominisation move of the Central Government have badly affected the private sector and lakhs of people have lost their jobs.

Uttam Kumar Reddy has threatened to intensify agitation on Fee Reimbursement and unemployment issues. He asked the Chief Minister not to play with the careers of helpless students and jobless youth who would teach the ruling party a fitting lesson at an appropriate time.

The dharna was also addressed by former Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy, TYC president Anil Kumar Yadav and other senior leaders.
