Warangal, Jan 28: About 200 members of Kakatiya University Joint Action Committee have set on a 12-day padayatra on Thursday.The padayatra was flagged off by Kakatiya University professors Papi Reddy, Sitaram Naik and Sitaram Rao at the Martyrs' memorial at Subedari. The students plan to cover 750 km in the district.The students, who would branch out into two groups, would meet again on the campus by Feb 6 to attend the proposed ''Kakatiya Vidyarthi Polekeka'' the folowing day.

One of the teams comprising 100 members will cover mandals on Janagam side while the other would tour mandals on Parkal side, said KU JAC convenor Sri Ram Shyam. The students would interact with the people and seek their support for a non-cooperation movement.Releasing the site map of the padayatra, Shyam said the Jangam team would meet their counterparts from Telangana students JAC who are also on padayatra at Thorur on Feb 3.Explaining the objectives of the padayatra, KU JAC leader Dasaraph Prem Kumar said the students would ask the people to boycott alcohol as it constitutes the highest share of the state' s income, and defer payment of loans and electricity bills.
