Congress is responsible for poverty in the country: KTR

Industries Minister K. Tarakarama Rao came down heavily on the Congress party and blamed it for poverty in the country.

Addressing a public meeting 'Janahitha Pragathi Sabha' in Nizamabad on Thursday, the Minister said that Congress party, during its rule, has failed to eradicate poverty. He said that welfare schemes implemented during Congress regime were so impractical that it was difficult for the poor people to buy salt or dal from the monthly pensions provided to them. However, he said Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao has increased the pensions to Rs. 1,000 to Rs. 1,500.

KTR has also praised his sister and Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha and claimed that she was among the top five orators in the Parliament. He said Kavitha improved her oratory skills by actively participating in the Telangana movement.

The meeting was also addressed by Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Nizamabad MP K. Kavitha, Rajya Sabha MP D. Srinivas and other senior leaders.
