President Of India Pranab Mukherjee will attend the first convocation of English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) to be held on April 26 at Global Peace Auditorium, Brahma Kumaris Shanthi Sarovar, Gachibowli. The President will also deliver the Convocation Address.

Governor and the Chief Rector of the University ESL Narasimhan will be the Guest of Honour.

The English and Foreign Languages University has been an avant garde institution with a rich history of teaching and teacher- training from its inception as the Central Institute of English (1958) and later as the Central Institute of English and Foreign Languages (1972). To extend its reach, CIEFL established regional campuses at Shillong in 1973 and at Lucknow in 1979. In July 1973, CIEFL was conferred "Deemed to be University status and in 2007 it became a Central University under its present name by an Act of Parliament.

President Of India is the Visitor of the University. EFLU has been accredited with Grade 'A' by NAAC in May 2016 after a gap of 16 years under the leadership of Vice Chancellor Prof. Sunaina Singh. The University had earlier been awarded a five star rating m the year 2000 by NAAC.

The proposed Convocation shall be the first convocation of the university after it became a Central University and therefore acquires greater pre-eminence. There is widespread enthusiasm in the students who are going to receive their degrees in the Convocation for the year 2016-17. A total number of 8 Gold Medals, 69 Ph.Ds, 108 Masters, 6 PGDTE and 72 Bachelor's degrees will be awarded in the Convocation.
