Kakinada, Feb 4: Telugu Desam leader N Chandrababu Naidu demanded a judicial probe into the liquor tragedy in Amalapuram mandalam in East Godavari district, which claimed 18 lives.Taking a serious note on the incident, in which nearly 180 persons were hospitalized after consuming illicit liquor at a belt shop, the Opposition leader on Thursday alleged the government had miserably failed to check liquor deaths in the state.He demanded the government close all belt shops in the district to curb the menace.
He came here to console the bereaved family of the hooch and Coramandel Fertiliser gas leak victims.He alleged that the Congress was hatching a conspiracy to destabilize the Telugu Desam party in the state.He refused to make comments on Sri Krishna Commission appointed to look into Telangana issue. The commission should respect the sentiments of all the three regions—Telangana, Rayalaseema and Coastal Andhra—while eliciting opinion of all people, he added.
